Electrical Construction Specialist
The Electrical Construction Specialist provides technical oversight and field support for electrical construction activities across Targa facilities. This role ensures compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices during installation, modification, and maintenance of electrical systems. The specialist will oversee electrical inspectors, assist with project execution, and support operations in implementing changes to existing facilities.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical oversight for electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with Targa standards, NEC,
NFPA, and applicable codes. - Oversee and coordinate electrical inspectors to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Support project execution teams during construction phases by reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and
installation practices. - Assist operations with electrical modifications to existing facilities, including troubleshooting and implementing
changes safely and efficiently. - Verify proper installation of electrical equipment such as switchgear, MCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, and
grounding systems. - Verify proper installation of controls and communications equipment such as PLCs, RIOs, junction boxes, and fiber
patch panels. - Participate in MOC and PSSR processes.
- Coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up efforts for electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in field safety audits.
- Review and validate electrical work packages, redlines, and as-built documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and contractors to resolve field issues and maintain budget and schedule
integrity. - Maintain accurate records of inspections, quality checks, and compliance documentation.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and analytics
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control, grounding, and protective devices.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, and installation details.
- Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and electrical equipment installation in classified locations.
- Experience with modifications in operating facilities and understanding of lockout/tagout and energy isolation
procedures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology.
- Experience overseeing electrical inspectors and ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards.
- Familiarity with commissioning procedures and electrical testing (megger, relay testing, etc.).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines, including eye protection, footwear, hard
hat, and fire retardant clothing (FRC) - Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions and plant/field environments
- Ability to work in close quarters, while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
