Engineering Manager
POSTIION SUMMARY:
The Process Engineering Manager leads process engineering efforts supporting downstream operations in the Mont Belvieu area, ensuring safe, reliable, and optimized performance of fractionation, treating, and logistics assets. This role manages a team of engineers while providing technical oversight, driving operational improvements, and implementing advanced tools and systems to enhance asset performance.
This position partners with cross-functional stakeholders to plan and execute capital projects, maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and profitability. The role also supports engineering talent development and delivers high-quality technical solutions that align with business objectives and maximize asset value.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, supervise, and develop a team of process engineers supporting downstream assets.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance management to ensure high-quality engineering support.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Operations & Technical Support
Provide day-to-day technical support to operations, including troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and optimization of plant processes.
Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), regulatory requirements, and company standards.
Support incident investigations, PHAs, and resolution of action items.
Develop and maintain process simulations, material balances, and operating models.
Process Design & Engineering
Design and implement process improvements for fractionation, treating, and related assets.
Size and specify process and mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, vessels, and control valves.
Develop and review engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, and piping isometrics.
Ensure engineering designs meet applicable industry codes, standards, and internal requirements.
Project Management & Execution
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, including feasibility studies, FEL, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
Review cost estimates, monitor budgets and schedules, and support project execution and startup activities.
Manage Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Identify, prioritize, and execute initiatives that improve safety, reliability, and operating margins.
Lead the implementation and maintain optimization tools and systems, including advanced process control and performance monitoring platforms.
Establish & maintain structured dashboards & systematic review & action on identified improvement opportunities.
Analyze operational data to improve efficiency and maximize asset value.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with operations, commercial, construction, and other functional teams to align engineering activities with business objectives.
Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and engineering standards.
Participate in the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards and best practices.
Planning & Budgeting
Support development of short- and long-term capital plans for assigned assets.
Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and economic evaluation of projects.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
At least 6 years of experience in midstream or related industry operations, engineering, or project management.
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising engineering teams.
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., ProMax or equivalent).
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Experience with Advanced Process Control implementation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project and project management tools.
Understanding of project economics (NPV, IRR, payback).
Experience with PI Vision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.
Ability to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
