Sr. Software Asset Management Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY
Targa Resources Corp., a leading provider of midstream services and one of the largest independent midstream infrastructure companies in North America, is seeking a Senior Software Asset Management Analyst for its Houston, TX office. This strategic role will lead the governance, optimization, and lifecycle management of software assets across the enterprise. The successful candidate will drive compliance, cost efficiency, and process maturity in software asset management (SAM), while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align asset strategies with business objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Develop and implement enterprise-wide SAM policies, standards, and procedures.
Lead software asset lifecycle management initiatives, including procurement, deployment, usage tracking, renewal, and retirement.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for software licensing models, compliance requirements, and vendor negotiations.
Vendor & Contract Management
Lead complex negotiations with software vendors to optimize licensing terms and reduce costs.
Manage high-value software contracts and subscriptions, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance with legal and financial standards.
Partner with Legal, Procurement, and Finance to review and approve software agreements.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
Oversee software asset-related budgeting and forecasting processes.
Provide executive-level reporting and insights on software spend, utilization, and savings opportunities.
Identify and implement cost optimization strategies, including license re-harvesting and consolidation.
Process Optimization & Tooling
Drive continuous improvement of SAM processes and tools, including ServiceNow and Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC).
Lead periodic audits and maturity assessments of SAM practices.
Champion automation and integration of asset discovery, tracking, and reporting tools.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a liaison between IT, Finance, Procurement, and business units to ensure alignment and transparency in software asset decisions.
Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of SAM capabilities across the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field
7+ years of progressive experience in Software Asset Management, IT Procurement, or IT Finance.
Proven experience managing enterprise software portfolios and vendor relationships.
Deep understanding of software licensing models (e.g., SaaS, perpetual, subscription, cloud-based).
Strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and cost optimization.
Advanced proficiency in ServiceNow, Oracle Financial Cloud, and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all levels of the organization.
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.
Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and IT governance practices.
Experience in midstream or energy sector is a plus.
