POSITION SUMMARY:
Targa is seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Data Analytics Specialist with proven leadership experience to join and help shape our Data Analytics team. In this elevated role, you will lead efforts to improve data transparency, accessibility, and comprehension across the organization, especially for non-technical stakeholders. Leveraging your deep expertise in data analytics and team leadership, you will identify opportunities for improvement, guide the development of actionable insights, and influence data-driven decision-making at all levels.
You will oversee the full data analytics lifecycle—from scoping requirements and designing analytical frameworks to managing data preparation, conducting advanced analysis, and delivering impactful visualizations. Your success will be measured by stakeholder satisfaction, the strategic adoption of analytics solutions (including Power BI dashboards and datasets), and your ability to mentor and elevate the capabilities of the analytics team.
As a senior member of our centralized analytics function, you will play a critical role in shaping the team’s direction, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and driving scalable solutions to complex data challenges.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Lead stakeholder engagement efforts to understand business needs, build trust, and align analytics initiatives with strategic goals.
Serve as a subject matter expert and primary liaison for key business areas, guiding data strategy and analytics priorities.
Oversee the design and development of interactive dashboards and reports using BI platforms like Power BI.
Manage and expand curated, flexible datasets and dashboards that support enterprise-wide decision-making.
Champion data literacy by mentoring team members, conducting training sessions, and developing documentation for end-users.
Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams to ensure robust data infrastructure and governance.
Resolve complex data issues and ensure data integrity across platforms and sources.
Lead the implementation of key metrics, data classifications, and performance indicators.
Apply advanced analytics and data science techniques to uncover patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
Maintain a repository of analytical code and visualizations (SQL, R, Python, etc.), promoting reuse and standardization.
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for executive and operational stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to internal standards for quality, documentation, and data governance.
Contribute to the development of business glossaries, data dictionaries, and lineage documentation.
Use data science techniques to find data patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, and/or equivalent work experience in a related field
7+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analysis, or a related field
Prior experience with team leadership and project management.
Experience creating highly adopted, and intuitive dashboards with BI tools like Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic analytics initiatives.
Excellent communication, presentation, and data storytelling skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership.
Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling concepts.
High level of accountability, customer-focused, consultative approach with stakeholders, comfort building expertise w/ new tools, and the ability to independently execute against goals.
High level of proficiency w/ SQL and relational databases
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities, particularly in a data-intensive environment.
Solid understanding of data governance principles and practices.
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Oil and Gas Industry/Midstream Operations
Basic programming skills in Python, R
Familiarity with enterprise data architecture and cloud-based analytics platforms.
