Sr. Income Tax Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY
Targa’s Tax Department located in downtown Houston is seeking a Sr. Income Tax Analyst. The qualified candidate is detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. They should have excellent communication and collaboration skills and be able to work in a high performing team environment. They will be primarily responsible for preparing federal and state income tax returns, assist with quarterly income tax provision calculation, and maintenance of tax basis balance sheets. They will secondarily assist with other facets of income tax such as – fixed assets analysis, tax research, regulatory tax filings, and income tax audit examination support.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns.
- Prepare adjustments for quarterly financial reporting.
- Assist with maintenance of tax basis balance sheets.
- Conduct tax research and analysis to confirm tax positions on federal and state returns.
- Work on special assignments or projects as directed by the team such as IRS and State audits.
- Assist with the preparation and/or review of various regulatory tax filings.
- Collaborate with other accounting/finance functions.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 2 - 5 years’ experience in federal and state income tax preparation.
- Ability to work in a team environment which values teamwork and strong collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Attention to details and strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of data and utilize pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUPs etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Oracle Financials Cloud and/or OneStream.
- Experience with subchapter K – partnership taxation.
- Certified Public Accountant or eligibility a plus.
