RightAngle Reporting Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY:
RightAngle is our enterprise-wide Energy Trading & Risk Management (“ETRM”) financial system. We are looking for a candidate in our accounting team with the following skills:
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide RightAngle expertise across the entire platform from an accounting, reporting and interface perspective to provide solutions in various domains, including:
- Inventory Valuation – Enhance the automation of Targa’s weighted average cost inventory valuation (“WACOG”).
- Financial Reporting & Analytics: – Develop custom reports and analytical tools to facilitate data validation, root cause analysis, and data summarization of complex financial data (WACOG, Recon, GL summaries, etc.)
- Inventory Management and Reconciliation: Drive process improvements to optimize month-end close and inventory reconciliation, reducing lags and ensuring data integrity.
- Month-End & Pre-Close Activities: Support and execute closing and pre-closing financial tasks to ensure compliance with reporting deadlines.
- Financial Performance Evaluation: Conduct P&L variance analysis (e.g., Actual P&L, Forecast P&L, assisting with reconciliations between Actual and Forecasted etc.).
- RightAngle Data Expertise: Manage and validate data across RightAngle including: Data -> Deal -> Transfer -> Order -> Movement -> Transactions (all types) -> Invoice/Payable -> GL Entries.
- Inventory Valuation – Enhance the automation of Targa’s weighted average cost inventory valuation (“WACOG”).
- Develop and optimize management reporting packages and KPI’s for the Downstream Accounting group, ensuring insights align with business objectives.
- Identify and implement process and system enhancements to improve data accuracy, streamline reporting, and meet accounting requirements, including solutions that will overcome limitations in RightAngle system functionality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across accounting, finance, trading, and IT to drive change management and align operations with business objectives. Serve as a liaison between IT and business streams, overseeing solution development, testing and deployment.
- Build training content for RightAngle processes.
- Design implementation procedures for future RightAngle upgrades.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of RightAngle experience, with specific expertise in Accounting, RightAngle transactional analysis, troubleshooting, and solution design and development
- Sound understanding of WACOG and its impact on P&L
- Extensive experience building and developing management reports to analyze financial results and trends
- Business or technical degree in Management Information Systems, Finance or Accounting, or Engineering / Mathematics with accounting consulting experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply knowledge in identifying and resolving issues with internal and external business partners
- Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of RightAngle (S15+)
- Experience with accounting for the NGL value chain, including transportation, fractionation, storage, marketing, and exports
- Well organized and detail-oriented
- Strong desire to learn and excel within environment of growth and change
- The capacity to pursue issues and resolve them independently, develop strong relationships with internal and external business partners and collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Demonstrate an ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced team environment, with limited supervision
