Sr. Project Accounting Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:
Targa is currently seeking a Senior Project Accountant for their office located in Houston, TX.
This position is responsible for handling projects workflow processes from inception to close, month end close duties, and reporting to management with respect to the Targa Resources capital project program. This person must be detail oriented and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. This individual must work well with others at various levels of the organization. The ideal candidate must also be able to think and work independently, bringing potential solutions along with issues discovered, and the candidate must possess the ability to build simple queries/reports arising out of impromptu requests.
JOB DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure capitalization policies and procedures are followed
Monitor project spend and provide support as requested from project managers
Ensure capital projects and budgets are accurately set up with appropriate cost assignments
Review, approve, and guide project workflows and ensure timely and accurate placed in-service dates are reflected in Oracle
Generate, record, and monitor invoicing for reimbursable projects
Handle month end close procedures, as assigned, including capitalized interest and capitalized labor allocations, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly CWIP fluctuation analysis
Perform research on various accounting topics as requested and provide recommendations to Management in a clear and concise manner
Manage communication of project accounting issues and resolution to impacted groups
Respond to audit inquiries accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain desk procedures and SOX documentation for assigned areas
Maintain relevant project accounting KPI’s
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Foundational knowledge of GAAP and an understanding of internal controls in a SOX environment
3+ years of experience in project accounting, property accounting, corporate accounting and/or public accounting
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication with ability to adjust style depending on audience and interact with peers and other departments
Proficient in Excel to at least an intermediate level
Strong organization skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior use of an ERP system
Oracle Financials Cloud (OFC) experience
Certified Public Accountant or eligible
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with property/project accounting, cost capitalization, project reimbursable billings, and understanding of financial statements.
