Sr. Manager/Manager of Power

POSITION SUMMARY:
We seek a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Manager / Manager of Power to support the management of a large and diverse electricity load portfolio across regulated and deregulated markets. This role will play a key part in hedging strategy support, financial modeling, operational reporting, invoice validation, automation initiatives, and the evaluation of generation technologies. This role offers the opportunity to influence electrification strategy and drive innovation in a dynamic and evolving power market.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hedging Support: Assist in the development and execution of power hedging strategies to manage risk and optimize cost.
Operational Reporting: Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports on load, pricing, and market performance.
Financial Modeling: Prepare financial models to assess the economics associated with potential power generation transactions, investments, initiatives, and optimizations.
Executive Level Presentation: Develop and deliver PowerPoint Presentations in support of the Power team.
Generation Evaluation: Analyze and compare various generation technologies (renewables, thermal, storage, etc.) for performance and cost-effectiveness.
Invoice Validation: Review and validate utility and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Portfolio Management: Monitor and analyze the performance of a large load portfolio, identifying trends, and anomalies.
Market Operations: Support day-to-day operations in both regulated and deregulated power markets.
Automation Development: Assist with the development and maintenance of automated tools and scripts for data processing, reporting, and analytics.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with trading, operations, finance, and engineering teams to support business objectives.
Documentation: Document processes and procedures related to power operations and reporting.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
5-10+ years of experience in power markets, energy analytics, or a similar role.
Strong understanding of regulated and deregulated electricity markets.
Familiarity with ISO/RTO operations (e.g., ERCOT, MISO, SPP).
Experience preparing financial models to assess the economics associated with potential power generation transactions, investments, and initiatives.
Developed project management skills
High level of professionalism, maturity and attention to detail.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with load forecasting or generation modeling.
Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and energy storage systems.
Experience with reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Excel VBA).
