Rail and Truck Dock Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rail and Truck Dock Technician safely and efficiently operates the truck loading/unloading and rail car loading/unloading activities of natural gas liquids as directed by supervisor. This person has knowledge of the operation and maintenance of facilities, and/or product pipeline systems.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Monitoring compressor and scale operations from the operator shelter specific to the Truck Dock
· Connect/disconnect LPG rail cars to load/offload and verify product lineups
· Monitor surveillance cameras for any incident or event that warrants shutdown loading or unloading operations
· Prepare documentation including Bills of Lading. Conduct yard checklist to gather railcar information for the logistics group
· Conduct inspections of the truck dock and railcar racks to assure that equipment and surrounding areas are safe, secure and equipment is operating satisfactorily.
· Conduct inspections of railcars
· Fill out applicable work/hot work permits, perform lockout/tag-out, daily logs, attend and participate in tailgate sessions
· Perform routine shutdowns and startup of equipment
· Assist in terminal operations during off peak periods of rail rack business
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Ability to work 12-hour rotating (day/night) shifts and will require some weekends and holidays to be worked
· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company
· Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions
· Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
· Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision
· Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
· Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
· Ability to work in changing climate conditions
· Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
· Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex)
· Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3+ year experience in the industry or knowledge of operations
· Has a good understanding of utilizing pumping and compression
· Able to troubleshoot equipment failures and process failures
· Process Safety Management knowledge
· Knowledge of underground Storage
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
