The Project Engineer is responsible for designing, and supporting the construction of midstream gas processing facilities, including equipment specification, process simulation, and troubleshooting. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant building and performance while collaborating with engineering consultants, operations, and project teams to deliver technical solutions and continuous improvement.

JOB DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for plant project development, Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance, PHA participation and action item resolution and environmental permitting

  • Possess fundamental knowledge of midstream gas gathering and processing operations, including pig liquids handling, compression, glycol and desiccant dehydration, treating, hydrocarbon recovery, acid gas injection, nitrogen removal, and condensate stabilization.

  • Develop process simulations and material & energy balances using ProMax software

  • Size and specify mechanical equipment, including separators, filters, tanks, heat exchangers, air coolers, pumps, compressors, treaters, and dehydrators including developing datasheets and drawing packages.

  • Select appropriate piping materials, diameters, and thicknesses to meet design requirements.

  • Size and specify relief devices, control valves, and regulators.

  • Possess knowledge of midstream process controls and instrumentation, including controls narratives and cause & effect matrices.

  • Interpret and design Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot Plans, Piping Plans, and Piping Isometrics.

  • Possess knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and best practices applicable to the midstream industry (including API, ASME B31.3/4/8 and VIII, DOT 192/5, NFPA, etc.).

  • Develop scope of work and procurement packages for plant equipment.

  • Develop documentation for plant commissioning activities.

  • Assist projects through the entire project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, Front End Engineering Design, detailed engineering and design, equipment scoping, bidding and analysis, management of equipment procurement through delivery, as-built drawings, commissioning activities, and participation in pre-startup safety reviews.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.

  • Experience in natural gas gathering, compression, treating, dehydration, processing, fractionation, construction, and/or operations.

  • Experience with Promax or similar applications.
