JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Embody integrity, accountability, initiative, and respect.
  • Design compressor stations and gas plant enhancements:
  • Develop process simulations using ProMax software.
  • Spec mechanical equipment, including compressors, dehydrators, separators, tanks, air coolers, pumps, heat exchangers, and treaters.
  • Spec piping materials, diameters, and thicknesses.
  • Spec instrumentation and valves, including relief devices, control valves, regulators, meters, transmitters, and switches.
  • Develop piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) and plot plans.
  • Assist drafting/design and construction with developing 3D models, piping, and civil/structural designs.
  • Develop controls narratives and cause & effect matrices.
  • Collaborate with construction to develop scope of work/for-bid packages for construction and commissioning activities:
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external team members (including construction, safety, environmental, operations, commercial, land/ROW, 3rd party contractors, etc.)
  • Track/forecast costs and milestone schedules and regularly communicate progress to project stakeholders
  • Manage projects through the entire project lifecycle, including: develop feasibility studies and cost estimates; submit AFE’s; perform detailed engineering and design; generate as-built drawings; and participate in pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Provide troubleshooting, optimization, and compliance support to operations, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations:
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of midstream gas gathering and processing operations, including pig liquids handling, compression, glycol and desiccant dehydration, treating, hydrocarbon recovery, and condensate stabilization.
  • Possess knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and best practices applicable to the midstream industry (including API, ASME B31.3/4/8 and VIII, DOT 192/5, NFPA, etc.)
  • Proactively identify and implement enhancements to optimize safety, reliability, operational flexibility, efficiency, performance, and capacity
  • Ensure local, state, federal, and Targa policies and regulations are adhered to.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, project management, and/or operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and Teams
  • Effectively interface with all levels within Targa as well as organizations outside the company
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time
  • Regular and reliable attendance

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 5+ years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, project management, and/or operations
  • Experience with acid gas (carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide) handling and processing equipment

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment
  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, hard hat, FRC)
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
