Plant Operations Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:
Review and monitor plant operation/processes for optimizing quality and production of products meeting required data specifications. The responsibility of the technician is to work safely, have good trouble shooting skills on mechanical equipment (natural gas internal combustion engines, natural gas compressors, electrical and pneumatic controls, pumps, and control equipment.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the operating of natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including but not limited to treating plants, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc.
- Operating the plant equipment and system may include, but is not limited to:
- Adjusting controls to operate equipment in the recommended or prescribed operating ranges.
- Visually inspecting equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
- Operating valves
- Monitor Plant and Pipeline Operations and respond appropriately to emergency or upset conditions.
- Implements safe work practices and participates in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, the public, and the environment at all times.
- Assists with monitoring of gas gathering system through SCADA and notifies plant supervisor of situations that could affect gas deliveries.
- Reads, monitors, and records various operating conditions such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, etc.
- Other job duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating (day/night) shifts and will require some weekends and holidays to be worked.
- Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision
- Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
- Regular and reliable attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-year Vocational training pertaining to oil and gas industry
- 2 years Oil & Gas Industry experience, Midstream, Gas Plant Operations
- Knowledge of gas and liquid measurement
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions.
- Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
