POSITION SUMMARY:

Review and monitor plant operation/processes for optimizing quality and production of products meeting required data specifications. The responsibility of the technician is to work safely, have good trouble shooting skills on mechanical equipment (natural gas internal combustion engines, natural gas compressors, electrical and pneumatic controls, pumps, and control equipment.)

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the operating of natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including but not limited to treating plants, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc.

  • Operating the plant equipment and system may include, but is not limited to:

  • Adjust controls and operating conditions to optimize production, product quality, and system reliability.

  • Visually inspecting equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.

  • Troubleshoot processes, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues and implement corrective actions as appropriate.

  • Monitor Plant and Pipeline Operations and respond appropriately to emergencies or upset

  • conditions.

  • Implement safe work practices and participate in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, the public, and the environment always.

  • Assists with monitoring of gas gathering system through SCADA and notifies plant supervisor of situations that could affect gas deliveries.

  • Reads, monitors, and records various operating conditions such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in natural gas processing, midstream operations, or related oil and gas plant operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate and troubleshoot gas plant systems, including compression, dehydration, treating, separation, and associated equipment.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.

  • Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.

  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating (day/night) shifts and will require some weekends and holidays to be worked.

  • Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objectives and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.

  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).

  • This position works around high concentration of H2S.

  • Regular and reliable attendance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years Vocational training pertaining to oil and gas industry

  • 5+ years Oil & Gas Industry experience, Midstream, Gas Plant Operations

  • Strong understanding of compression, amine treating, dehydration, and gas processing systems.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements under 29 CFR 1910.119

  • H2S certification and emergency response experience 
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.

  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions.

  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
