I/E Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Electrical Department which maintains assets in Eddy and Lea County areas. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of plant and field instrumentation and electrical equipment, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC Systems.
- Utilize PLC programs for facilities troubleshooting.
- Install and maintain level switches and level transmitters.
- Install and maintain pressure transmitters.
- Install and maintain temperature transmitters and RTDs.
- Install and maintain control valves and positioners.
- Record maintenance performed on all equipment end devices.
- Test, verify, and record proper operation of ESD systems.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot all issues with HMI/Panel view.
- Troubleshoot and repair control circuits.
- Troubleshoot MCC/PDC switch gear from 480 VAC to 4160 VAC.
- Troubleshoot motors from 3/4 HP to 3000 HP.
- Ensure proper installations through accurate reading of blue prints.
- Review project drawings to perform installation activities according to specifications.
- Perform field calibrations with process meters and Hart Communicators.
- Participate in Targa's 24hr callout schedule.
- Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC circuits.
- Install and maintain variable frequency drives.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license and comply with company’s driving policy and insurance requirements
- Requires good oral and written communication skills; Must be able to read instrumentation and electrical blueprints
- Regular use of complex machines and equipment; specialized or advanced software programs.
- Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors; able to work in a self-directed work team
- Must become proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software modules, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage their time when given multiple tasks.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two year associates degree or equivalent on the job training in specific skill area.
- Instrumentation and Electrical knowledge and/or background.
- Mechanical skills and plant knowledge.
- Experience working in a team environment, self-starter, and ability to work with peers in collaborative efforts
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well with peers and other crafts
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions, frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
