Engineer – Shared Services
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our team at Targa Resources. As an engineer – shared services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper organization, security, and accessibility of all engineering and construction data, drawings, and files. You will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to streamline data management processes, implement best practices, and develop and coordinate training. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of information management principles, strong technical and communications expertise, vision for record retention processes, and proficiency in training on data management best practices and processes.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Embody integrity, accountability, initiative, and respect in all communication and tasks performed.
- Standards and Training:
- Maintain company engineering and construction forms, standards, and standard typical drawings. Process requests to change and create new standards.
- Work with Engineering & Construction Leadership to ensure appropriate personnel are effectively trained on technical standards, procedures, and policies and understand how to access, use, and modify technical data.
- Develop and coordinate technical and soft-skill training and training curriculum across the Engineering & Construction (E&C) organization.
- Record Retention Tools:
- Develop and maintain record management systems, including developing and continuously improving E&C record capture and retention processes, auditing E&C records for quality and completeness (e.g. Job Books, enterprise facility asset data, GIS data, etc.), and training on these processes.
- Develop E&C SharePoint document storage sites with metadata to facilitate implementation with Targa’s Document Management System.
- Data Governance and Compliance:
- Embrace the Management of Change (MOC) process to review, approve, and implement changes to policies and Master Data
- Develop and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the integrity and availability of company data.
- Maintain Company's technical business glossary/data dictionary, encompassing both technical drafting and pipeline/facility (linear/point) asset labelling and attributing
- Work closely with business units to classify and categorize data to enable appropriate access controls.
- Ensure technical data aligns with industry standards and best practices (ISA, GPA, PIP, etc.)
- Monitor compliance with data management processes, regulatory data requirements, internal policies, and report any potential risks or violations to relevant stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain data classification schemes to enable efficient data retrieval and retention.
- Establish data retention schedules in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work with HR and IT to maintain user access controls, permissions, and role-based access to ensure data confidentiality and integrity.
- Data Quality:
- Establish resilient processes, policies, and business rules to maintain and prioritize data quality (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity, and uniqueness)
- Track Key Performance Indicator's (KPI's) to objectively measure sustainable, objective, and quantifiable adherence to standards and technical data utilization and trend performance and gaps over time
- Collaborate with data owners to empower and hold users responsible for resolving data issues.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments and implement measures to improve data accuracy and completeness.
- Information Systems Management:
- Work with IT teams to evaluate, implement, and maintain information management systems, databases, and data repositories.
- Assist in troubleshooting system issues related to data management and provide guidance on system improvements.
- Information Retrieval and Reporting:
- Ensures data is collected in accordance with stakeholder requirements (E&C, ES&H, Enterprise Asset Management, Commercial, Operations, etc.)
- Collaborates with data analytics to produce interactive and intuitive dashboards and reports
- Communications
- Coordinates informational dialogues for E&C organization
- Assists in goals and metrics tracking
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS engineering degree or related field from an accredited university
- 5 years minimum in natural gas midstream industry, with an understanding of gas gathering, gas processing, transportation, and fractionation.
- Familiarity with data management tools (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint), database systems, and data visualization platforms (e.g. Microsoft Power BI)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify data-related issues and propose effective solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft software, including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and Power Platform applications, with experience in Exceed LMS, Integrify, DocuSign, and Maximo.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness and eagerness to travel away from the home office, overnight, 25% of the time, with the understanding that occasional circumstances may necessitate additional travel.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment
- Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, hard hat, flame retardant clothing (FRC))
- Ability to drive and adhere to all defensive driving guidelines and requirements
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
