Corrosion Technician
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ years of Corrosion control experience.
- NACE Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2) minimum, other NACE certifications a plus
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of company policies and DOT regulations
- Will be required to obtain and maintain all company and regulatory required Operator Qualifications.
- Understand and operate all corrosion related instrumentation
- Working Knowledge and methodology of ACVG, DCVG, CIS, Current attenuation and mapping.
- Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects
- Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
- Proficient with computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software, and technical systems)
- Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, etc)
- Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.
- Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independently with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
- Ability to successfully work in team environment.
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Safe work practice and active participation in the safety program.
- Detail-oriented.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical or associate degree in a related field or equivalent from an approved and accredited college or university.
- Minimum NACE certification required is a CP2. A CP3 certification is a plus.
- Experience in all phases of corrosion control and pipeline integrity.
- Working knowledge of corrosion related portions of NEC and NACE standards.
- Working knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Proficient in the use of the Allegro field computer and PCS software.
- Proficient in the use of standard office software applications.
- Able to work independently with little direction.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.
- Strong ability to lead and teach others.
- Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training, formal education, and/or experience.
- Working knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR Part 192/195.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to frequently, climb to and work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, walkways and walk to task being performed.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasional).
- Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included.
- Will be required to sit for long periods of time entering data and preparing reports.
