Corporate Counsel/Sr. Corporate Counsel - Gas Gathering & Processing
POSITION SUMMARY:
The candidate will join the Legal Team and will interact with and support various groups across the Company, with a primary focus on legal advice and support for all commercial aspects of Targa’s natural gas gathering and processing midstream business segment. This position will also partner with other attorneys across the Targa Team on various transactional and asset related matters, and will manage other projects within the Legal Team.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Negotiate and draft agreements for the gathering and processing, purchase and sale, transportation, and treating of natural gas
Negotiate and draft various midstream agreements common in the industry (e.g. aid in construction agreements, ratifications, consents, confidentiality agreements, acreage releases, pipeline interconnect agreements, access agreements, real estate agreements, gas lift agreements, gas sale agreements, and data sharing agreements)
Counsel business clients regarding business arrangements and commercial agreements
Assist with and provide legal advice related to joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including due diligence activities
Work as a team with business clients and other attorneys to respond to commercial demands and achieve business objectives
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctorate, licensed to practice law (preferably in Texas, Oklahoma, or New Mexico)
2 – 7 years of legal experience, with substantial law firm experience or relevant in-house experience preferred
Strong academic background
Excellent legal analysis, drafting, and negotiation skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic legal environment and respond quickly to commercial demands
Commercial, pragmatic, and flexible approach, and ability to quickly grasp complex commercial arrangements
Willingness to provide or experience providing legal advice to senior level business leaders
Ability to develop and sustain relationships with clients at all levels
Proven track record as a team player
Attitude that no job is too big or too small
Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic understanding of regulations regarding natural gas gathering and transmission
General understanding of real property law as it relates to midstream activities and gathering and processing dedications
