Compensation Analyst

The Compensation Analyst supports Targa Resources’ Total Rewards strategy by providing analytical, operational, and consultative support across base pay and incentive programs. This position will have significant involvement with compensation related data analytics and supports the Compensation team, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to ensure compensation programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with Targa’s compensation philosophy and business objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the administration and ongoing maintenance of Targa’s base salary and short‑term incentive programs
Participate in external salary surveys by submitting data, validating results, and analyzing survey outputs to obtain market‑competitive compensation benchmarking information
Conduct market pricing and benchmarking using compensation surveys and tools to support hiring, promotions, and retention decisions
Assist with job evaluations, job description reviews, and alignment to job architecture and compensation structures
Support, maintain, and improve efficiency in annual compensation cycles, including merit and bonus planning
Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities while developing and maintaining process documentation to ensure consistent, accurate, and repeatable compensation processes
Provide timely and accurate responses to employee and stakeholder questions regarding compensation programs and practices
Analyze compensation data to identify trends and market competitiveness; develop clear summaries, charts, and insights for HR and business leadership
Assist with compensation design and analysis by working with large datasets to formulate recommendations for compensation program improvements
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and compensation regulations
Support additional ad hoc compensation analyses and special projects, as needed
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
3–7 years of progressive experience in compensation analysis or total rewards
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, data analysis, and data visualization; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
Working knowledge of employment and labor laws related to compensation and job classification
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop clear, actionable insights
High attention to detail, particularly when working with large and complex datasets
Self‑motivated with the ability to problem solve and work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and operate with a strong sense of urgency
High level of integrity and discretion with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Professional and confident communicator with the ability to interact effectively with employees, leaders, and external vendors
Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or progress toward certification
Experience supporting compensation programs within the oil and gas or energy industry
Experience participating in and administering external compensation surveys
Experience working with HRIS and compensation systems (UKG preferred; PayFactors or similar tools a plus)
Background or experience in statistics, data analytics, or quantitative analysis
